saturday night’s all right for…

Well I haven’t had a post in a few days so here we go. It’s Saturday night and the fucking Yankees game is rained out. What the fuck am I going to do with all this beer? And all the energy I was going to spend cursing their souls and rooting for them to be [...]

old poem #2

“Arrival”
The last cloud has turned over
and the last light has fallen from the sky
the double barrel streetlights cry
their elongated reflections
across the surface of the river:
shivering,
with the premonition of a cold july,
like magnet furs
suspended between bridges.
longer than the church steeples
that dominate the starless sky,
I,
and everyone else here
cringe like heartburn.
fallen trees like creaked fingers
dip ripples into the [...]

old poem #1

“Please Pardon Our Appearance While Remodeling”
okay
the building that I work at is a tough scene for me
it’s four floors of lawyers
three floors of insurance people
and way too many conversations
about the weather
for me to feel like it’s worth hiding the hangover
unlike the rest of them.
the building i work at is building a new set of back [...]

alcoholism (concept #1)

A short film slash music video I made with stop motion. Time consuming but I think it turned out OK. Music is an old song of mine, “Burning Yr Bridges” that I thought fit.

this guy is my new hero

Grayson: Republican health care plan: Don’t Get Sick. and If You Do, Die Quickly
Republicans: bitching and moaning, want him to apologize
Grayson: I’m apologizing to the 44000 dead each year because they have no insurance
Republicans: Grayson is unstable, just trying to get attention
Grayson: STFU, “America is sick of you.” Republicans are a “lie factory, that’s all [...]

  • about me

Joe Yoga is an artist, facilitator, and incorrigible force of nature based in New York City. He is working these days mainly in black and white, guitar, cassette tape, hand claps, acrylic, and the burdens of rage, love, and exhaustion towards "a sort of land-where-blues-began attentiveness to the half-broken heartbeat of a sound" (Nick Courage, A Mutual Respect Books and Music).

As a musician he appears at venues all over NYC and his first album "The Dreamless Sea" is available for free download at www.goyogago.com, His new album "Life Out East" will be available in Spring 2010.

As a stage performer he was recently featured in Kill the Band (Audience Choice Award Winner, 2010 Frigid Festival) and Ramblings of a Gentleman Scumbag (Imperial Award / Donor's Choice, 2010 Frigid Festival). He is also half of the house band at Penny's Open Mic, a massively popular Tuesday mic in the East Village (www.pennysopenmic.com), and produces a monthly show "Grudge Match: Music vs. Comedy" on the 3rd Wednesday of every month, featuring the best up and coming musicians and comedians in the city.
