call to action!

Woke up today (Thanksgiving) to some good news in the form of an email from www.thesixtyone.com saying that my song “Life as a Movie” had hit the front page of their website.
“the sixty one” is a music site for artists to post songs and for listeners to find new shit to listen to. much like last.fm. except the sixty one seems to have a bigger focus on independent artists and is pushing creative commons hard (haven’t looked into creative commons a lot, it appeals to me but I’m still wary for reasons that are hard to articulate, but have something to do with the fact that if you leave yourself unprotected, people will abuse and exploit you to the extent they’re allowed to).
returning to my song though… it was pretty cool to see that. The song got 320 “hearts” (think facebook “likes”) which is awesome to think that over the last week or so 320 random people heard my song and liked it.
my point being… why not try to get all my songs voted up? so here i am asking you to… well… I’m not going to ask you to sign up for an account just to vote my songs up, but how about this… you go visit the site and peek around for a minute or two, and if it looks like something you might use more than say, five times, then by all means sign up for an account and go to http://www.thesixtyone.com/joeyoga/ and heart my little songs into oblivion. But only if you really like them! I don’t want to cheat. All twelve songs that make up my album The Dreamless Sea are up there and available to stream and download for free.
I’m not sayin… I’m just sayin.
