Symphony #15 in A#m, op.53
by Joe Yoga
i) [agitato]
It’s a Monday morning
and I have the day off from work.
I clean up the empties,
shake out the butts
smooth the ash off the table,
re-crush the cellophane
and either take a couple of deep breaths
and a spin around the block
or
light another cigarette
take the trash downstairs (or not)
and try to find that [...]
no poetry
it’s done, i tell you.
tonight i fought about
eight zillion
different battles
after scribbling out some
stream-of-consciousness bullshit
on my way to what I knew
was a war
no war
how am i supposed to survive another?
i would rather proxy that shit out the ass.
please.
no more calls.
let that shit go to voicemail.
i want toys. i want the nothingness of childhood.
it’s three a.m. but [...]
scratch de-briefing
http://amutualrespect.org/words/2009/11/20/scratch-clip/trackback
So… Scratch is done. For now, anyway. I’ve still got to get the full video, there’s a review I hear is coming, and I have yet to fully decompress. But people keep asking me: How do you feel about it?
Well the short answer is I feel incredible. I’m thrilled with my performance, and with the [...]
old poem #2
“Arrival”
The last cloud has turned over
and the last light has fallen from the sky
the double barrel streetlights cry
their elongated reflections
across the surface of the river:
shivering,
with the premonition of a cold july,
like magnet furs
suspended between bridges.
longer than the church steeples
that dominate the starless sky,
I,
and everyone else here
cringe like heartburn.
fallen trees like creaked fingers
dip ripples into the [...]
old poem #1
“Please Pardon Our Appearance While Remodeling”
okay
the building that I work at is a tough scene for me
it’s four floors of lawyers
three floors of insurance people
and way too many conversations
about the weather
for me to feel like it’s worth hiding the hangover
unlike the rest of them.
the building i work at is building a new set of back [...]

As half of the house band at Penny’s Open Mic, I’m there every week. I regularly see performances that are worthy, funny, impressive, charming, more than tolerable, engaging, etc. There are a few that are terrible. There are [...]
for new york
a poem I wrote, back then:
FOR NEW YORK
you can’t see them
you’ll never remember
what they looked like the last time
you saw them
because you can never look
at something as if it were the last time
because you never really believe
there will be one
you don’t fear death anymore.
in a strange way you know
you’re safer
because the world has moved.
you are [...]
i don’t know how to do this shit
Well,
Here’s yet another youtube video. I decided to improv some poetry because… well why the hell not? It was something I used to do a lot, and now don’t because I’ve gotten noticeably lazier as time has gone on and for the simple fact that I don’t really write all that much poetry anymore. I’ve [...]
free mp3 of the day – Burning Yr Bridges
and the rain fell steadily, carrying
everything with it. it was simply
part of the night, part of the distance,
part of the cyclical cleansing process,
part of nature’s clean up crew.
It was supposed to was all the
built up dirt away, and it did,
bringing it with it where ever
the rain eventually ended up. and
somewhere in there for a second [...]
